Man Injured, Arrested After Accident That Sent Passenger In Other Car To Hospital

Orange City, Iowa– A South Sioux City, Nebraska man and a Sioux Center man’s passenger were taken to a hospital after an accident near Orange City on Saturday, March 15, 2025.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 6:15 p.m., 38-year-old Henry Esquivel Villanueva of South Sioux City, Nebraska was driving a 2004 Honda southbound on Jackson Avenue near Highway 60. They tell us that 26-year-old Jeremy Van Beek of Sioux Center was northbound on Jackson in a 2016 Subaru.

The report says that Esquivel Villanueva lost control and crossed the center line, where he stuck the Van Beek vehicle head-on.

The Orange City Ambulance took Esquivel Villanueva and a passenger in the Van Beek vehicle, 26-year-old Ashley Van Beek, to Orange City Health System Hospital.

Esquivel Villanueva was charged with serious injury by vehicle and knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury, both class D felonies. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison on each charge. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of operating while under the influence second offense.

Along with the troopers covering the crash, deputies from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, Orange City Police officers, Orange City Fire Rescue and Orange City Ambulance emergency responders assisted at the scene.
