Humboldt, Iowa– A Maurice man was involved in a crash in which a Hardy, Iowa woman sustained fatal injuries near Humboldt on Monday morning, November 10, 2025.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 7:45 a.m., 60-year-old Debora Ruberg of Hardy was driving a 2004 Jeep westbound on Highway 3, six miles east of Humboldt. They tell us that 37-year-old Austin Van Klompenburg of Maurice was eastbound on 3 in a 2016 Freightliner semi.
The report says that Ruberg lost control on snow and ice near States Avenue and entered the eastbound lane. Her Jeep Cherokee was struck by the semi driven by Van Klompenburg, which caused Ruberg to be ejected.
The Humboldt Ambulance took Ruberg to the Humboldt Hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries.
Van Klompenburg reported no injuries.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Humboldt EMS, and the Humboldt police and fire departments assisted with the response to the crash.
