More Winter Weather Headed Our Way

Northwest Iowa — Yet another winter storm will impact the region tonight (Thurs) into Friday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for a large portion of north-central into western Iowa as well as some counties in Nebraska and South Dakota.

In our area, the counties include Buena Vista, Cherokee, O’Brien, Plymouth, Pocahontas, and Sioux counties. It’s in effect until 6:00 p.m. this Friday evening. Forecasters say 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected in those locations, with some isolated amounts of up to 6 inches possible. At last report, only about two inches were forecast for the Sheldon area.

Forecasters add unlike the last system, the wind will NOT be a factor this time around and blizzard conditions are NOT expected. The snowfall, however, will likely cause slick road conditions. Those planning to travel in the area under the winter weather advisory should plan ahead and allow extra time to reach their destination from now through late Friday afternoon.
