NCC Powerline Program Gets $15,000 Donation From Basin Electric Power Cooperative

Sheldon, Iowa — Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) in Sheldon tells us they have received a generous $15,000 donation to their Powerline program.

NCC officials are saying thanks for a $15,000 collaborative gift from North West Rural Electric Cooperative and Basin Electric Power Cooperative.

The contribution was made possible through Basin Electric’s Matching Donation Fund, which doubles charitable donations to maximize community impact. Headquartered in Bismarck, North Dakota, Basin Electric serves as the primary power supplier for Lyon Rural Electric Cooperative, Osceola Electric Cooperative, North West REC, and Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative.

NCC officials tell us the donation underscores the long-standing partnership between local rural electric cooperatives and NCC. For years, the college’s Powerline program has trained skilled workers who now help power homes and businesses across northwest Iowa. Many of today’s lineworkers employed by these cooperatives are proud graduates of NCC.
