Sheldon, Iowa — NCC Students had a chance to find out what Sheldon is all about at this week’s “Taste of Sheldon” event on Wednesday.
Area businesses, churches, and organizations were invited to the NCC campus to meet NCC students. They had the opportunity to hand out fliers, have drawings, give away prizes or samples, or do whatever they wanted to do to advertise their business, church, or organization to NCC students.
NCC officials say they have many students who come from different places, who may have no idea what Sheldon has to offer them. NCC says the goal is to inform the students about the community we live in, and it makes them excited to be a part of it.
KIWA General Manager Tom Traughber says KIWA had a table at Taste of Sheldon. He says he talked to the students about the station, and answered questions about opportunities in commercial radio. Traughber says, “I introduced several of the students to our Big Deals page, showing them how they could save money on the things they’d normally buy anyway (McDonald’s, Pizza Ranch, etc.)” Traughber says it was a good day.
