Northwest Iowa — A new detour goes into effect this week for Highway 9 between the Osceola County Line and Highway 86 at Vick’s Corner. Beginning Wednesday, August 20th, weather permitting, the route will utilize Osceola County Road M-18, or White Avenue, Osceola and Dickinson County Road A-34 or 220th Street, Dickinson County Road M-34, Dickinson County Road A-22, and Highway 86 past the west side of West Lake Okoboji to get to Vick’s Corner.
Officials with the Iowa Department of Transportation say the change in the detour route will allow crews from Dickinson County to complete a bridge deck overlay project on Dickinson County Road A-34.
Access will still be available to businesses and residences along Highway 9, however motorists are advised to travel toward the nearest side road and to exit the construction area as Highway 9 between Highway 86 and the Osceola County line remains closed to through traffic. The project isn’t scheduled for completion until mid to late October.
