Silver City, Iowa — A new Republican has entered the race for Randy Feenstra’s fourth district chair in Congress. Douglas Jensen is from Silver City, which is about 13 miles southeast of Council Bluffs.
His website says his career spans military service, public policy, community leadership, and business. He is an executive with a commercial concrete company, where his campaign says he helps deliver “critical infrastructure projects that strengthen communities and expand opportunity.”
Jensen says he gets emotional when he thinks about the state of the country.
Jensen says Congress needs to focus more on solving problems than grandstanding.
You may have heard the name Douglas Jensen before, but this is a different person from Doug Jensen of Des Moines, who was convicted for his involvement in the January 6th Capitol riot. Again, this is NOT the same person.
Candidate Douglas Jensen launched his campaign on Friday, telling the crowd about his intention to restore accountability and function to Congress.
There are several candidates running for the position. The other Republicans currently in the fourth congressional district race are state Representative Matt Windschitl of Missouri Valley, Iowa Tea Party founder Ryan Rhodes of Ames, Lakota farmer Christian Schlaefer, and Chris McGowan, the president of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce. Three Democrats have started campaigns in the fourth district. The incumbent of the District 4 US House seat, Randy Feenstra of Hull, was expected to announce a run for governor in September, but has not made it official yet.
