O’Brien County, Iowa — It’s been a few days since Monday night’s derecho that blew through the region. O’Brien County has been designated a disaster area by the governor. And some people in the county had more damage, this time due to flooding, the next day.
O’Brien County Emergency Management Director Jared Johnson tells us what happened and what people in the county are dealing with.
Johnson tells us how to see if you qualify and apply for those programs.
He says Iowa Legal Aid can also provide free legal assistance to low-income Iowans in priority civil matters. You can find out more at iowalegalaid.org/issues/disaster-relief.
Johnson says that if you had damage on Tuesday night, you can also apply under the same disaster proclamation as for those with damage from the derecho.
