Sibley, Iowa — An Ocheyedan man has been arrested on felony drug charges after a traffic stop in Sibley.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the Osceola County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 38-year-old Joshua Fields of Ocheyedan is accused of the possession of THC and meth. He was arrested on Friday.
In his statement, the deputy says he saw Fields park in a driveway that wasn’t his. The deputy says he cited Fields for no driver’s license. After obtaining consent for a search, the deputy says he found a THC vape pen. The deputy then called in K9 Balin with the Sheldon Police Department. The K9 alerted on the vehicle, and several items were found including vape pens, wax that was likely to be THC wax, a crystalline substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
Fields was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Since these would be third or subsequent offenses, the charges were upgraded to class D felonies. If convicted, Fields could face up to five years in prison on each charge.
He faces an initial appearance on the charges on Tuesday.
At last report, Fields remained in the Osceola County Jail in Sibley in lieu of a $5000 bond.
