Moneta, Iowa– An Ocheyedan man was taken to the hospital after an accident near Moneta on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 12:05 p.m. , 23-year-old Rian Engelkes of Ocheyedan was driving a 2005 Honda Accord eastbound on 400th Street, four miles south of Moneta or about 12 miles east of Primghar.
The report says that for an unknown reason, the driver crossed the centerline. The car entered the north ditch and continued in the ditch for several hundred feet. It then exited the ditch, crossed 400th Street again, and rolled upon entering the south ditch.
The Primghar Ambulance took Engelkes to Spencer Hospital.
Engelkes’s Honda Accord sustained $5000 in damages, which totaled the vehicle.
