October 2024 Was Warmer And Drier Than Normal

Sheldon, Iowa — The month of October was warmer and drier than normal in Sheldon.

According to the weather facts collected by KIWA Radio, the highest high was 84 degrees, recorded on October 10th. The lowest high temperature was only 46 degrees, recorded on October 31st.

The lowest low in the month was 25 on October 15th. The highest low was 55, recorded on the 19th, 20th, and 21st.

The average high for the month was 69. The normal is 62. The average low was 39. The normal is 38. The average temperature as-a-whole for the month was 54 degrees, and normally it’s 50.

We received just 0.69 inches of precipitation for October. A normal October sees 1.92 inches, so we were below normal for the month by 1.23 inches. Year-to-date precip has been 36.26 inches.
