Rock Rapids, Iowa — An Ohio man has been arrested on felony grooming and several misdemeanor charges of disseminating obscene material to a minor after a sting operation in Lyon County.
Records at the Lyon County Clerk of Court’s Office indicate 40-year-old Gustave Peterson of Millersport, Ohio, is accused of sending multiple obscene images to an officer he thought was a 15-year-old girl, and attempting to “seduce, solicit, lure, or entice the person into unlawful sexual conduct.” He was arrested on Sunday.
In his statement, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputy says the behavior allegedly began in November and stopped in December.
Peterson was charged with grooming, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison. He also faces fifteen misdemeanor counts in connection with the alleged incidents.
He faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on February 12th.
At last report, Peterson remained in the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids in lieu of a $32,000 bond.
