Sioux Center, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — One person was transported for possible injuries following a two-vehicle accident in Sioux Center on Saturday.
According to a report from the Sioux Center Police Department, the crash occurred at the intersection of 4th Avenue Northeast and 12th Street.
Authorities say a 2012 GMC Acadia was traveling south on 4th Avenue Northeast, while a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee approached the intersection heading east on 12th Street.
The report states the eastbound driver believed the intersection was a four-way stop. After stopping, the driver entered the intersection and struck the southbound vehicle.
Damage to the GMC Acadia was estimated at approximately $8,000. Both vehicles were disabled in the crash.
One occupant, who was secured in a child safety seat, reported possible injuries and was transported by Sioux Center Ambulance to Sioux Center Health for evaluation.
The driver of the Jeep was cited on charges of failure to obey a stop sign and failure to yield the right of way.
The driver of the GMC was also cited on multiple charges, including driving with a suspended or revoked license and failure to provide proof of financial liability.
The names of those involved have not been, and are not expected to be released.
