Orange City, Iowa — A garage was damaged in a fire in Orange City on Saturday.
According to Orange City Fire Chief Dan Roghair, the Orange City and Alton fire departments were dispatched to 401 5th Street SE, in Orange City for the report of a garage fire.
Roghair says firefighters worked to put out the fire while simultaneously searching the building. He says the blaze was brought under control within 15 minutes and was contained to the garage area. Roghair says no signs of fire extension into the house were found and the structure was deemed safe.
He says no injuries were reported as a result of the fire, and the cause remains under investigation.
Thanks to the quick response, only cosmetic damage was caused to the garage. He says that the Sioux Center firefighters were called, but as soon as the Orange City and Alton firefighters knew what they were dealing with, they told their Sioux Center counterparts that they could disregard the call.
