Primghar, Iowa — Several O’Brien County area projects received financial help this week through grants from the O’Brien County Community Foundation.
The grants totaled over $119,000 and went to nonprofit organizations and units of local government in support of projects throughout O’Brien County. Grants were presented June 13th in Primghar.
Foundation officials tell us that since 2006 the O’Brien County Community Foundation has granted over $1.7 million dollars back into our community for projects and programs that benefit O’Brien County residents.
Foundation Advisory Board Chair Denise Steffen says, “Each year the O’Brien County Community Foundation grants enhance the lives of our residents through diverse projects and programs.”
The grants ranged from $450 for StoryWalk improvements at the Paullina Public Library, all the way to $15,000 for Kids Kampus Daycare in Primghar toward a range suppression hood.
Other projects receiving sizable grants were the Hartley Fire Department toward air compressor bottle replacement, the Hartley Emergency Ambulance Rescue Team toward a Physio Lifepack 15 (which is a monitor/defibrillator), and the City of Calumet toward park shelter accessibility. Each of these organizations was awarded a $10,000 grant.
Sheldon-specific grants went to the ORAB Music Boosters in the amount of $5000 toward a concert grand piano for the middle school and to the Sheldon Fire Company in the amount of $5185 toward a rope rescue system.
