Primghar, Iowa — A Primghar man has been arrested on felony drug charges.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 32-year-old Matthew Chindlund of Primghar is accused of the possession of controlled substances for the third or subsequent time. He was arrested on Wednesday.
In his statement, the deputy says he found Chindlund to be in possession of methamphetamine and a THC vape pen. Since Chindlund had been convicted of marijuana and meth possession before, this would be a third offense, raising the charges to felony level. He says the interaction started because Chindlund had been playing loud music from inside his garage with the overhead door open, and was accused of walking into traffic and stopping cars. The report says Chindlund had claimed he was “initiating the neighborhood watch party” and wanted law enforcement to be called by the public. The deputy stated that Chindlund lives directly next to the Primghar Emergency Services building, and the access road is a major roadway through Primghar.
Chinlund was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison on each count. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.
He faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on October 3rd.
At last report, he remained in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar in lieu of bond.
