Reynolds Deploys Iowa National Guard Soldiers To Support ICE Agents In Iowa

Des Moines, Iowa — Governor Kim Reynolds is deploying 20 Iowa National Guard soldiers for nearly 10 weeks to assist federal immigration officials in Iowa.

Reynolds says the Iowa National Guard soldiers will provide logistical and administrative support to Iowa-based officials with Immigration and Customs Enforcement or ICE. Reynolds says it will free up local ICE officials to continue their work outside the office to enforce the law and keep Iowa safe.

The deployment starts September 8th and ends November 15th. Reynolds says Iowa will continue to assist in the enforcement of federal immigration laws, just as it did during the Biden Administration. Reynolds deployed state troopers and Iowa National Guard soldiers to Texas in 2021, 2022, and 2024.
