RISE Grants Approved For Sioux Center, Waterloo, and Huxley

Sioux Center, Iowa (RI) — The Iowa Transportation Commission has approved funding for roadway improvements to help businesses in Sioux Center as well as Waterloo and Huxley.

Iowa DOT’s Deb Arp says Sioux Center was awarded funding through the Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy (RISE) grant program. The grant will be used to construct nearly 600 feet of Third Street NW, improving industrial routes and practices to 12 acres on the northwest side of town.

The Transportation Commission approved half of the near $553,000 needed for the road project.

Arp says Waterloo is also receiving funding to improve roadways in its South Business Park.

Arp says the city sought even further funding from the RISE grant program to support the certified Iowa Economic Development Authority site.

That would be up to 60% of the total eligible project costs.

The third and largest award is going to the central Iowa town of Huxley for a roadway and intersection improvements at Iowa Highway 210 and 160th Avenue on the southeast side of town.

The road project in Huxley is estimated to cost nearly $4.2 million and the RISE Grant is for approximately half of that cost.
