Rock Rapids And George Firefighters Put Out Fire Northeast Of Rock Rapids

Rock Rapids, Iowa — An outbuilding was destroyed in a fire on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, near Rock Rapids.

According to new Rock Rapids Fire Chief Eric Borman, at about 5:45 p.m., the Rock Rapids Fire Department was called to the report of a fence line fire out of control near 1335 Jackson Avenue, five miles east and two north of Rock Rapids.

When they got there, the chief says the fire department saw a building on fire had already collapsed. He says they protected the grove from fire progression. They spread out about twelve bales that were on fire, and doused them with water.

Borman says no injuries were reported.

The fire department was assisted by the George Fire Department.

Chief Borman reports that while a building was lost, it and its contents were of little value, so the damage done by the fire was moderate.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about two hours.
