Rock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley man has been arrested on a felony drug warrant after a search warrant was carried out there in October.
Documents from the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office reveal that 28-year-old Taylor Hanson of Rock Valley is accused of possessing a sufficient quantity of cocaine to elevate the charge to a felony. He was arrested on Friday.
In his statement, a Rock Valley Police Officer says that during the warrant search, the Rock Valley Police K9, Gus, alerted to a narcotics odor in the closet of Hanson’s bedroom, where over 69 grams of white powder were found. The field test was positive for cocaine, and the subsequent test at the DCI lab concurred that the substance tested positive for cocaine.
Hanson was charged with possession of a controlled substance — in this case, a class C felony. If convicted, Hanson could face up to ten years in prison.
He faces a preliminary hearing on January 6th.
Hanson was booked into the Sioux County Jail in Orange City and was released the next day after posting a $10,000 bond.
