Sanborn Man Accused Of Sex Contact With A Minor In 2020

Sanborn, Iowa — A Sanborn man has been arrested on a warrant for a sex crime involving a minor.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sanborn Police Department, 39-year-old Thomas Gengler of Sanborn is accused of inappropriate contact with a minor. He was arrested on a warrant on Monday.

In his statement, the officer says the victim reported to a therapist that there had been inappropriate contact by a caretaker in 2020.

Gengler was charged with lascivious acts with a child, a class C felony. If convicted, Gengler could face up to ten years in prison.

He faces a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, May 27th.

Gengler was booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar, and was released the same day after posting bond.
