Sanborn Man Faces Felony Assault Charge

Sanborn, Iowa — A Sanborn man has been arrested on felony assault charges after an incident in Sanborn.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sanborn Police Department, 39-year-old Joseph Flores of Sanborn is accused of domestic assault impeding airway. He was arrested on Sunday.

In his statement, the officer says Flores put his hands around the victim’s neck, impeding the airway during the assault.

Flores was charged with domestic abuse assault impeding air or blood flow, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.

He faces a preliminary hearing on the charge on September 5th.

Flores was booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar, and was released the next day after posting bond.
