Orange City, Iowa — We now know who will serve on the Orange City City Council.
Orange City voters returned to the polls Tuesday for a four-candidate runoff to decide two city council seats — and the unofficial results are now in.
According to the Sioux County Auditor’s Office, 660 ballots were cast, for a 15.1% turnout among eligible Orange City voters.
The top two finishers — and those apparently elected — were:
Mark Scallon – 383 votes
Andrew Bloemendaal – 343 votes
They were followed by:
Adam Howerzyl – 329 votes
Tony Vande Brake – 215 votes
Write-ins – 3 votes
The runoff was triggered after eight candidates competed for the two open seats in November, and no candidate received enough votes to win outright under Iowa’s runoff provision. The top four — Scallon, Bloemendaal, Howerzyl, and Vande Brake — advanced to Tuesday’s final vote.
