Senator Grassley Visits Northwest Iowa On 2024 99-County Tour

Northwest Iowa — U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley made stops today (Mon.) in northwest Iowa.

The Senator started his day at Jack Link’s in Laurens, where people asked him about what can be done about the high cost of groceries, the carbon pipeline, John Deere layoffs, and electric cars.

Next, the senator visited Rosenboom’s in Spirit Lake. Grassley says he heard a lot of concerns during his visit about regulatory issues, especially when it comes to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration or OSHA.

Grassley also mentioned some priority issues he hopes the U.S. Senate takes up when Congress reconvenes in a couple of weeks.

Grassley says passage of the Defense Authorization Bill, or NDA, should also be a priority.

The senator visited the Ocheyedan Senior Activity Center on Monday afternoon where 18 people were in attendance, and asked about palm oil imports, sustainable aviation fuel, the carbon pipeline, tariffs, voter ID laws, the high cost of groceries, the farm bill, crop insurance, social security, meatpacker consolidation, and national defense.

Grassley also held a question and answer session with employees of O’Brien County Ag Supply in Primghar on Monday afternoon. There were 15 people there, and they talked about fertilizer cost, tariffs, and regulations; the Iowa State Fair, the 45Z tax credit (or clean fuel production credit), sustainable aviation fuel, and the farm economy.

According to Grassley’s personal feed on the social media platform, X, he stopped for supper at Jay’s in Sanborn for a hamburger steak.
