Sergeant Bluff Man Arrested On Drug, Other Charges In Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sergeant Bluff man has been arrested on felony drug and other charges after a traffic stop in Sheldon.

Sheldon Police accuse 39-year-old Eriksen Todd of Sergeant Bluff of driving under the influence and repeat possession of a controlled substance. The charges were formally filed in O’Brien County after he was arrested last week.

In his statement, the officer says Todd was stopped for an equipment violation. While talking with him, the officer said he saw Todd take a hit of a THC vape pen. The officer says the odor of THC was coming from his breath while he talked with the officer. He says Todd gave consent to search the vehicle. Inside, the officer says he found nine THC vape pens.

Todd was charged with possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison. He also faces misdemeanor charges of operating under the influence and carrying weapons while ineligible, due to his alleged possession of brass knuckles.

He faces a preliminary hearing on Friday.

Todd was booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar and was released the next day after posting bond.
