Sheldon City Council To Discuss Appeal Of Code Enforcement At Wednesday Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet this Wednesday, September 4th at 4:30 p.m. in the council chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center across the street south of KIWA Radio.

Several items are on the council’s consent agenda, and unless they are requested to be voted on separately by the council, they will be approved in one motion. Among the items are a new liquor license and outdoor privilege for Backyard Brew, a beer permit renewal for Kwik Star, the approval of a Sheldon Fire Company applicant — Byron Herrera Cuadros, the approval of a pay estimate for the Oak Street Project, the scheduling of a hearing for the rezoning of 620 3rd Avenue from “arterial commercial” to “residential multiple” to facilitate the sale of a home to continue to be used as a dwelling, and a pay estimate for the water tower project.

In new business, the council will discuss the appeal of code enforcement action at 523 10th Street and provide direction to city staff. They’ll consider the purchase of a fire tanker, discuss and hold public hearings on the PCC patching project and the Wyman and 16th Street culvert replacement project, and fix a date for a meeting on the proposition to authorize a loan agreement for Western Ave reconstruction, in an amount not to exceed $2.7 million.

The council will also have the first readings of changes to eight ordinances to bring them into compliance with changes made recently by the Iowa Legislature.
