Sheldon City Council To Discuss Urban Renewal Plan, Ordinance Updates

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet in regular session on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025. The meeting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center, downtown.

On their consent agenda is the approval of the minutes of the September 24th special meeting, the list of claims, the mayor’s recommended appointments of Myrna Wager and Mike Christians to the planning & zoning commission, a request from the O’Brien County Snowtrackers, a resolution on the annual road use tax report, and the approval of a beer permit for Family Dollar.

In new business, the council will discuss the amended and restated Sheldon Urban Renewal Plan and hold a public hearing regarding the plan and any changes. They will hold the second reading of the ordinance updates needed due to legislative changes. The council could also waive the third reading and accept the ordinances if they want. The two ordinances have to do with false representation of service animals and conflicts of interest. They will also consider a pay application for the PCC Patching project and one for the Western Avenue Project. The council may also go into closed session to discuss the potential purchase of real estate.

The meeting will be at 4:30 p.m. this Wednesday in the council chambers on the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center at 416 9th Street in Sheldon.
