Sheldon Council To Revisit Parking Issue For Former Bethel Property; Water & Sewer Rate Increases

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet in regular session this Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers in the Sheldon Community Services Center at 416 9th Street in Sheldon.

If they approve the consent agenda as it stands, they would, among other items, award an auditing contract to ABDO; approve SCDC requests for several events including Crazy Days on July 17, Hot Dog Day on August 12th, Celebration Days on August 29th through September 4th, and trick-or-treating on October 31st; approve cigarette permits for several stores; approve a liquor license for Train Station 2 and a liquor license renewal for the Eagles Club; and authorize fiscal year-end bill pay if necessary.

In old business, the council will again talk about the request from developer of the former Bethel property, Jason Postma, for financial assistance in removing the angle parking in the area, and will have the 3rd reading and likely the approval of the water and sewer rate increases.

There is actually no new business on the agenda except for various reports and any comments from the Mayor, council, and City staff.
