Sheldon EMA Director, Assistant Director Sworn In, Council Continues Budget Discussions

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council met in regular session at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.

By approving their consent agenda, they approved the meeting minutes from the previous meeting, the list of claims, financial reports, a resignation from Jackson Kleinwolterink on the Parks and Rec Board, a resolution fixing the date and time for a meeting on the proposal to reallocate certain unspent proceeds of some capital loan notes, and the approval of Jordan Donahue and Trevor Fuerstenberg to be members of the Sheldon Emergency Management Agency.

The council also heard the oaths of office for Emergency Management Director Travis Buyert and Assistant Director Jared Holtrop.

In new business, the council passed a resolution that authorized the removal of a 1996 minimum assessment agreement for the Super 8 Motel. They also directed City Attorney Micah Schreurs to continue to work out some additions to an agreement with Center Benefits for HR Services, which will be brought up at a future meeting.

They also had a time of public comment on the budget workshop and a lengthy discussion on Tax Increment Financing (TIF), Children’s World, and the Local Option Sales Tax as they relate to the current budget.
