Sheldon, Iowa — Students of Sheldon High School have just been granted another week of summer.
Construction continues at Sheldon High School, and Sheldon Community School District Superintendent Cory Myer tells us that while the new high school building project is progressing well and many areas are looking great, a few sections will not be ready in time for the original start date.
School for Sheldon High School students will now start on the day after Labor Day, Tuesday, September 2nd. However — school at the other buildings — Sheldon East Elementary and Sheldon Middle School — will start as scheduled, on Monday, August 25th.
While crews are wrapping up some construction projects at the high school, that does not mean that the project is nearly finished. Myer says the exterior additions are nearly complete, but two phases of interior remodeling will take place during this school year. They hope to be completely done by summer 2026.
