Sheldon Man Accused Of Sex Offender Registry Violation

Orange City, Iowa — A Sheldon man has been arrested on a charge of sex offender registration violation in Sioux County.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 44-year-old Charles Eden of Sheldon is accused of failing to notify the sheriff’s office about changes to his status. He was arrested on Thursday, August 22nd.

In his statement, the deputy says Eden failed to notify the sheriff’s office about a change in employment that happened in May.

Eden was charged with sex offender registration violation, second or subsequent offense, a class D felony. If convicted, Eden could face up to five years in prison.

Eden faces a preliminary hearing on the charge on September 3rd.

At last report, Eden remained in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City in lieu of a $3000 cash or surety bond.
