Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man has been arrested on felony drug charges after a traffic stop in Sheldon.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 55-year-old Samuel Skogman of Sheldon is accused of third or subsequent offence possession of controlled substances. He was arrested on Saturday.
In his statement, the officer says Skogman was stopped for an equipment violation. He says a THC pen was located in the vehicle’s center console. He says Skogman also had in his pocket a needle cap with methamphetamine in it.
Skogman was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense, a class D felony. If convicted, Skogman could face up to five years in prison on each count, for a total of ten years if ordered to serve the sentences consecutively. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of operating under the influence.
He faces a preliminary hearing on February 4th.
Skogman was booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar, and was released on the same day after posting bond. According to court records, another count (that would be a third count) of third or subsequent offense possession of a controlled substance was entered on Tuesday (1/28).
