Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man has been arrested on felony drug charges after a traffic stop in Sheldon.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 33-year-old Steven Dieck of Sheldon is accused of possession of marijuana, among other charges. He was arrested on Wednesday.
In his statement, the officer says Dieck was stopped for multiple equipment violations. He allegedly had the odor of THC coming from his breath. The officer says Dieck gave consent to search his vehicle. The officer says a THC vape pen was also found during the search.
Dieck was charged with two counts of possession of marijuana, third or subsequent offense, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison on each count. He also faces misdemeanor charges of operating under the influence and carrying weapons while ineligible.
He faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on October 29th.
Dieck was booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar and was released on Thursday after posting bond.
