Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Recreation Department is asking kids and parents to exercise and promote caution in the construction area around Sheldon High School.
Trevor Cast, the Park and Recreation Director for the City of Sheldon, sent out a message on Friday morning, reminding people that there is major construction going on at the high school this summer. He says they just wanted to send out a quick message to ensure everyone’s safety during morning summer rec and pool season.
Cast asks parents to speak with their children about using caution around the construction taking place at the high school. He says people should navigate around the outside edges of the parking lot instead of cutting across through construction and moving equipment. There will be construction vehicles moving in and out frequently and Cast says they want to make sure kids are aware of their surroundings. This includes the bike trail along the sports complex and bus barn. He says it is important to have a conversation with your children about this. He encorages anyone with questions or concerns throughout the summer on this matter to reach out to him.
Cast says the School District has stressed to all the contractors to be aware that there will be kids on bikes moving to programs or to the pool.
