Sheldon Spring Community Clean-Up Day Is Friday

Sheldon, Iowa — It’s almost time for that day every year when people go around Sheldon and try to spruce up everything for all the visitors we expect to welcome in the summer months.

We had a chance to talk to Sheldon Chamber Director Trista Kavanagh about it and she tells us the idea behind the Friday afternoon event.

Groups and businesses in and around Sheldon volunteer every year to take on specific areas or projects, and the SCDC keeps a list of those. She says most, but not all of the projects have been spoken for.

Sheldon Spring Community Clean-Up Day is this Friday afternoon (May 16th).

In other news from the Chamber, the Sheldon Farmers Market will be open each Monday afternoon from June 2nd through Labor Day in the old Train Depot on Business 60 South. Sheldon Celebration Days is held each Labor Day Weekend, with activities throughout the community, culminating with the big Celebration Days Parade, Monday afternoon, September 1st. For more information on any of these events, contact the SCDC Office at 712-324-2813, visit sheldoniowa.com, or visit the SCDC Facebook page.

Kavanagh made her comments Wednesday on the KIWA Talk of the Town Program, which can be heard on weekday mornings at 8:30 on KIWA-FM 105.3. We also post a podcast of every Talk of The Town Program, and you can find those by clicking here.
