Sheldon Council To Consider Rezoning Request

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet in regular session this Wednesday afternoon, September 18th at 4:30 p.m. in the council chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center at 416 9th Street, across the street south of KIWA Radio.

If the council approves, all the items on the consent agenda will be voted on in a single motion. If not, the council members can request an item to be pulled out for further discussion and a separate vote. On the consent agenda will be such things as a temporary street closure of 5th Avenue between 9th and 10th Streets on Friday, October 11th for the Sheldon Fire Company; the temporary closure of the east end of an alley near First Reformed Church on Thursday, October 31; the approval of six Community Development Block Grant policies needed for the Upper Story Housing Grants; and a beer permit renewal for the Crossroads Travel Plaza.

In new business, the council will consider the rezoning of 620 3rd Avenue from Arterial Commercial to Residential Multiple to facilitate the sale of the home, which is to continue to be used as a dwelling. The property is north of the back parking lot of Iowa State Bank. There will be a public hearing. The council may elect to pass only the first reading of the rezoning, or they could waive the second and third hearings and approve it right away. The rezoning was recommended for approval by the Planning and Zoning Commission.
