Sibley Man Arrested, Accused Of Exposing Himself At Sheldon Movie Theater

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sibley man has been arrested on an indecent exposure charge after an incident in Sheldon.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 32-year-old Jonathan Onnen of Sibley is accused of exposing himself at Main Street 3 Theaters in Sheldon. He was arrested on Monday.

In his statement, the officer alleges that Onnen was wearing a dress while at the movie theater on 9th Street in Sheldon. He was allegedly not wearing underwear and lifted the bottom of the dress, exposing himself. Three employees say they saw this act on the video cameras inside the theater. When officers attempted to arrest him, they say they told him he was being arrested, and he allegedly refused to cooperate and ran from officers. He was caught by an officer and was placed in a patrol car, where he began to kick at officers and prevent them from closing the door. He is further alleged to have slammed his head into the divider in the vehicle, and to have defaced the divider, requiring the officer to clean it after he was out of the vehicle.

Onnen was charged with indecent exposure, two counts of interference with official acts, and fifth-degree criminal mischief. All the charges are misdemeanors.

No court dates have yet been set in the case.

Onnen was booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar and was released the next day.
