Sioux Center Barn, Hay Destroyed In Barn Fire

Sioux Center, Iowa — A rural Sioux Center barn was destroyed in a fire fought by firefighters from four departments on Friday afternoon.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office tells us that about 2:10 p.m., their communications center received a report of a barn on fire that occurred at 3611 Highway 75, one mile north of Sioux Center.

The Sioux Center Fire Department arrived to discover the barn fully engulfed by fire. Additional fire crews and tankers were called to assist with extinguishing burning hay bales.

Fire crews remained on the scene for about four hours.

No injuries were reported.

Fire officials say they think the fire started from a skid-loader exhaust pipe coming into contact with hay bales inside the barn.

Along with Sioux Center firefighters, the Sioux Center Ambulance Squad; fire departments from Hull, Ireton, and Rock Valley; the Sioux Center Police Department; and the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and provided assistance.
