Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center daycare worker has been arrested on a warrant for a felony child endangerment charge.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sioux Center Police Department, 27-year-old Kathryn Pine of Sioux Center is accused of hurting a child in her care at a daycare facility on October 15th. She was arrested on a warrant by a Sioux County Deputy on Saturday.
In his statement, the officer says Pine is accused of pushing a victim’s head against his cot and holding him in what a witness called a “headlock”. The statement says Pine did not deny the allegations and said she should have called for help.
Pine was charged with child endangerment causing bodily injury, a class C felony. If convicted, Pine could face up to ten years in prison.
She faces a preliminary hearing in the case on November 4th.
Pine was booked into the Sioux County Jail in Orange City, and was released the same day after posting a $5000 bond.
