Sioux Center Man Arrested on Multiple Child Sexual Exploitation Charges

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center 19-year-old is facing dozens of charges after an investigation into child sexual abuse material uploaded from a rural residence.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested 19-year-old Gavyn Dibbet on Monday around 6 p.m. The arrest followed a report that child sexual abuse material had been uploaded from a location near Sioux Center.

Deputies conducted a further investigation and determined that Dibbet had received, possessed, and distributed multiple files of child sexual abuse material.

Dibbet was taken to the Sioux County Jail and charged with 16 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – Promoting Film, a class C Felony, and 38 counts of Possession of a Depiction of a Minor in a Sex Act, a class D Felony. If convicted of any class C felony, Dibbet could face up to ten years in prison. If convicted of any class D felony, he could face up to five years in prison. He also faces two misdemeanor counts of 1st Degree Harassment.

He faces a preliminary hearing on December 2nd.

At last report, Dibbet remained in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
