Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center man has been arrested on OWI and eluding charges in Sioux Center.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sioux Center Police, 20-year-old Everett Fedders of Sioux Center is accused of operating under the influence and eluding. He was arrested on Saturday.
In his statement, the officer says he saw Fedders leave from an underage drinking party, and he was speeding. When the officer activated his lights, he says Fedders attempted to elude the officer. When they arrested him, officers say he had signs of intoxication, but was unable to perform sobriety tests due to burns sustained on his hands during a bonfire at the party. The Sioux Center Ambulance Squad was summoned to evaluate the burns. The officer says Fedders blew a 0.145 BAC on a preliminary breath test.
He was charged with third or subsequent offense OWI and eluding at over 25 miles per hour over the limit, both class D felonies. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison on each charge. He also faces misdemeanor charges of driving while license denied or revoked, no insurance, fraudulent use of registration, driving while suspended, and driving under suspension (sic).
He faces a preliminary hearing on March 31st
At last report, Fedders remained in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
