Sioux Center, Iowa– A Sioux Center man was taken to the hospital after an accident in Sioux Center on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
The Sioux Center Police Department reports that at about 2:40 p.m., 34-year-old Brianna Hayes of Sioux City was driving a 2013 Audi southbound on 13th Avenue Southeast, at the southeast corner of Sioux Center. They tell us that 62-year-old Randy Nuzum of Sioux Center was eastbound on 20th Street Southeast in a 2003 Ford pickup.
The report says that Hayes had a yield sign, and Nuzum was preparing to make a left turn onto 13th Avenue Southeast. Hayes allegedly did not notice the yield sign and proceeded through the intersection without yielding to Nuzum. The Hayes vehicle struck the Nuzum vehicle in the middle of the driver’s side.
The Sioux Center Ambulance took Nuzum to Sioux Center Health Hospital.
Hayes’s Audi sustained $12,000 in damages, and Nuzum’s Ford pickup sustained $10,000 in damages. The damages were deemed severe enough to total both vehicles.
Hayes was charged with failure to obey the sign.
