County Officials Promote Flood Victim Support Group In Rock Valley

Rock Valley, Iowa — Sioux County officials are promoting a support group as we approach the one-year anniversary of the devastating northwest Iowa floods of June 2024.

A flood victim support group is being led by therapists from Creative Living Center. It will meet at Hegg Health Center Learning Center in Rock Valley. If you go, they ask you to enter through the Outpatient Specialty Services entrance. The support group will meet Fridays in June—June 6, 13, 20, & 27 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., and refreshments will be provided.

Those running the support group say you are invited to come if you were directly impacted by the flood, had a friend or loved one affected, if you helped with cleanup, volunteered at temporary shelters, or were part of the community during this time. They emphasize though that all are welcome. You can come each week, or as your schedule allows. You don’t need to pre-register — just come as you are able, share your story, listen, and heal.

The support group is brought to you by Sioux Rivers Mental Health and Disabilities Region, in partnership with Creative Living Center and Hegg Health Center.
