Sioux Center, Iowa — A Rock Valley man was taken to a hospital after a crash on Friday, March 28th.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before 7:30 a.m., 71-year-old Eugene Sandbulte of Sioux Center was driving a 2003 Peterbilt eastbound on 360th Street three miles northwest of Sioux Center. They tell us 27-year-old Nicholas Van Otterloo of Rock Valley was driving a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix also eastbound on 360th, following Sandbulte.
The report says Sandbulte began turning off 360th Street, and Van Otterloo struck the Peterbilt; the Peterbilt then struck an electrical pole.
The Sioux Center Ambulance took Van Otterloo to Hegg Health in Rock Valley.
The Peterbilt sustained approximately $5,000 in damage; damage to the Pontiac was estimated at $10,000.
Van Otterloo was cited on a charge of following too closely.
The sheriff’s office reports that the Sioux Center Ambulance, Sioux Center Fire Department, Sioux Center Police Department, North West Rural Electric Cooperative and MidAmerican Energy Company assisted with the response to the accident.
