Some Residents Of Sibley Under Boil Water Advisory

Sibley, Iowa — A boil water advisory has been issued for a portion of the city of Sibley.

Those living on Seventh Avenue from 9th Street to 6th Street, or on 6th Street from 7th Avenue to 9th Avenue; 7th Street from 7th Avenue to 8th Avenue, and on 8th Street from 6th Avenue to 7th Avenue need to boil water before consuming it.

City officials say the boil advisory is a recommendation from the City to boil water before consuming. Showers for adults should be fine, bathing for young children and infants should be done with boiled water. They ask that for all other children, please use your best judgment.

City officials stress that this is a precautionary step to make sure the water is not contaminated while at zero or low pressure during repairs to the main near the 7th Avenue and 7th Street intersection.

At this time, they tell us they anticipate the advisory being lifted by the end of the week. If you have questions or concerns, please contact City Hall at 712-754-2541 or 712-720-7181. Click here for the announcement on Facebook.
