Spencer Man Faces Felony Drug Charges After Suspicious Person Report

Hospers, Iowa — A Spencer man has been arrested on driving and felony drug charges after a suspicious person report at the Hospers Mini Mart.

According to a statement from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, 64-year-old Todd Christiansen of Spencer is accused of possession of methamphetamine and marijuana, among other offenses. He was arrested on Monday, October 6th.

The statement accuses Christiansen of driving to the Mini Mart while having a barred and suspended driver’s license. They allege that methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia were also discovered in his possession.

Christiansen was charged with third or subsequent offense possession of methamphetamine and third or subsequent offense possession of marijuana, both class D felonies. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison on each count.

He also faces charges of operating a motor vehicle with a barred driver’s license, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on October 21st.

At last report, Christiansen remained in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City in lieu of a $5000 cash or surety bond.
