Sioux City, Iowa — A Spencer man was sentenced last week on federal charges.
A jury found 43-year-old Oscar Navarro-Zepeda guilty in August of last year of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine; possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine; possession of a firearm by a prohibited person; and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Evidence at a jury trial showed that between April 2021 and April 2023, Navarro-Zepeda was involved in a conspiracy that distributed more than 31 kilograms of methamphetamine. Evidence also showed that on April 18th, 2023, a search warrant was executed at Navarro-Zepeda’s residence that resulted in the seizure of about 33 pounds of meth in separate packages intended for distribution. Officers also seized nearly $18,000 in cash, an AR-15-style rifle, two loaded magazines, ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and various other items used for drug distribution.
Navarro-Zepeda was sentenced to 17 years in federal prison.
