Three File Papers To Run For Two Sheldon City Council Seats

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will look a little different in 2026, with one current member no longer on the council, one member likely in a different chair, and one new member.

The filing period for candidates to file papers for city council and mayoral positions closed on Thursday at 5:00 p.m.

Three positions are up for election in November — those of Mayor Greg Geels, Second Ward Council Member Ken Snyder, and At-Large Council Member Tom Eggers.

City of Sheldon officials tell us that Snyder didn’t file papers, so he won’t be running in November. Current at-large council member Tom Eggers is unopposed for Snyder’s Ward 2 seat.

Two men have filed papers to run for Eggers’ current at-large seat. They are Kevin Miller and Jeff Wagner.

Mayor Greg Geels will be running unopposed.
