Three Taken To Hospitals, One Via Air Ambulance After Accident North Of Perkins

Hull, Iowa– Three area residents were taken to hospitals after an accident near Hull on Sunday, February 9, 2025. One of the injured was flown to a Sioux Falls hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 11:45 a.m., 83-year-old James Kooima of Rock Valley was driving a 2019 Buick turning westbound from Highway 75 northbound to Highway 18 westbound, at the north junction of Highways 75 and 18 near Perkins. They tell us that 67-year-old Gaylene Hultman of Cherokee was southbound on Highway 75 in a 2018 Ford.

The report says that the Hultman vehicle collided with the Kooima vehicle. Kooima’s Buick rolled one time.

Ambulances took Kooima to Hegg Health Center Hospital and Hultman to Sioux Center Health Hospital. A helicopter transported a patient in Kooima’s vehicle, 83-year-old Margene Kooima to Avera McKennan Hospital and University Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

The vehicles were both totaled with an estimated $10,000 in damages, each.
