Orange City, Iowa – A Sheldon woman spent Christmas in the Sioux County Jail following a traffic stop near Orange City early Thursday morning.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, one of their deputies stopped a car around 1:20 Christmas morning, on Jackson Avenue just inside Orange City for several equipment violations. Deputies say during the traffic stop, Plymouth County K9 Zeke indicated the odor of illegal drugs in the vehicle, which was reportedly being driven by 50-year-old Michele Pattison of Sheldon.
Upon further investigation, Deputies reportedly discovered that Pattison was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Additional testing also showed Pattison to be under the influence of a controlled substance while operating the vehicle, according to authorities.
Deputies say Pattison was charged with Possession of a controlled substance- Methamphetamine 3rd or subsequent (Class D Felony), OWI 1st (Serious Misdemeanor) and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor). She was also cited for new title/registration transfer violation, operating a non-registered vehicle, and improper brake lights.
